Meals On Wheels - Jan-Jul 2026
Jan. 10, 2026 11:00 a.m. - Jul. 04, 2026 11:00 a.m.

Delivering Meals on Wheels

  1. Pick up the meals from Los Robles Hospital East Campus in Westlake Village on Saturday morning at 11:00AM.  Park in the front parking lot, in a visitor spot, and go through the front main entrance.  Tell the receptionist you are there for MOW pick-up.  You will need to go to the cafeteria to pick up the food.

Los Robles Hospital East Campus

150 Via Merida, Westlake Village, CA 91362

  • : (805) 370-4420

  1. Total time shouldn’t take more than 1.5 hours – you will deliver  meals to about 7 – 10 recipients at their homes/apartments.

  1. You are encouraged to do this with friends or family – especially children as it is a very rewarding experience for everyone.

  1. You will be delivering both HOT and COLD meals in most cases. The HOT meals are VERY hot when you take them out. You may wish to bring a potholder, oven mitt or glove to handle them.

  1. If someone is NOT at home, and they leave a picnic style food container by the front door (with ice in it), then it is OK to leave their order even though they are not home.  On the rare occasion someone is NOT at home, and there is no container provided by the front door, then you have no choice but to return their meal/s to Los Robles.  In some cases, the residents are resting and they leave the front door open, so you can deliver the food inside.

  1. After you deliver the last meal you then have to go back to Los Robles to return the hot container and the cold container they provide.

  1. In the event you are unable to deliver the meals on the day you signed up for, PLEASE contact Cristina Auda (805-551-7367) so other arrangements can be made.

Cristina Auda is our resident MOW coordinator.  If you have questions please contact her.

We hope you will find the experience very rewarding.

Thank you!

Peacebuilding and Conflict Prevention Month
Feb. 01, 2026
One of the six (almost seven) areas of focus is Rotary peacebuilding and conflict prevention (the actual area of focus is named "Peace and Conflict Prevention/Resolution"), which is the theme for February.

It is often, however, the conflicts that occur throughout the world that are the root causes of poverty, despair, economic hardship, and poor health. Take for instance the major deterrent to polio eradication: the difficulty in vaccinating children in war-torn countries. Rotary International as an organization understands this relationship and therefore is deeply invested in supporting individuals and programs that will develop leaders who are committed to seeking ways toward peace.

The path toward peace begins with understanding and respect for the differences that make us unique.
These are the same types of values that are studied in the peace centers supported by Rotary International in association with several major universities across the globe. The mission of these centers is to “empower, educate, and increase the capacity of peacebuilders through rigorous academic training, practice, and global networking opportunities. More

Rotary Birthday
Feb. 23, 2026
Rotary started with the vision of one man — Paul Harris. The Chicago attorney formed the Rotary Club of Chicago on 23 February 1905, so professionals with diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas and form meaningful, lifelong friendships. Over time, Rotary's reach and vision gradually extended to humanitarian service.

World Peace and Understanding Day
Feb. 23, 2026

World Peace and Understanding Day commemorates the first meeting which led to the formation of Rotary International. Attorney Paul P. Harris called a meeting of his business friends in Chicago. He aimed to put together a fellowship of businessmen without limitations of politics and religion getting in the way. Initially, the members of the Rotary met in each other’s offices, till the group grew so large that it needed a space of its own. The Rotary Clubs were then established in four other American cities, and eventually, the group spread internationally, leading to a change in name from Rotary Club to the International Association of Rotary Clubs. As time passed, the name was changed again to Rotary International.

The organization has worked with the U.N. since the United Nations Organization was founded. Rotary International is a service organization that brings together businessmen and professionals so that they can offer humanitarian service and work towards the goals of goodwill and peace in the world. It has six areas of philanthropic focus — disease prevention and treatment, water and sanitation, maternal and child health, basic education and literacy, economic and community development, and peace and conflict prevention/resolution.

As part of its commitment to peace, Rotary International has set up Rotary Centers for International Studies in peace and conflict resolution in eight universities around the world. Rotary Fellowships offer grants to study at these Centers as well. The organization also has a Rotary Peace and Conflict Resolution Program which is a graduate studies program for which 75 scholars are announced every year.

Water and Sanitation Month
Mar. 01, 2026

Clean water, sanitation, and hygiene education are basic necessities for a healthy environment and a productive life.

When people have access to clean water and sanitation, waterborne diseases decrease, children stay healthier and attend school more regularly, and mothers can spend less time carrying water and more time helping their families.

HOW ROTARY MAKES HELP HAPPEN

Through water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) programs, Rotary’s people of action mobilize resources, form partnerships, and invest in infrastructure and training that yield long-term change.

Maternal and Child Health Month
Apr. 01, 2026 - Apr. 30, 2026
Rotary International's monthly theme for April is Maternal and Child Health. Every day mothers risk their lives giving birth, and millions of children die each year from treatable, preventable causes. At least 6 million children under the age of 5 die each year due to malnutrition, poor health care, and inadequate sanitation—all of which can be prevented. To help reduce this rate, Rotary provides immunizations and antibiotics to babies, improves access to essential medical services, and supports trained health care providers for mothers and their children. Rotary’s projects ensure sustainability by empowering the local community to take ownership of health care training programs.

Although most of our efforts are focused in developing countries, these challenges exist right here in the United States, which has the highest mortality rate of any high resource country. The U.S. is the only country—outside of Afghanistan and Sudan—where the rate is rising. More

June is Rotary Fellowship Month
Jun. 01, 2026
The theme for Rotary in June is Rotary Fellowships Month, which aims to:
  • Recognize the value of international fellowship and goodwill
  • Encourage more participation in fellowships
  • Increase understanding of the program
  • Provide opportunities for Rotarians to form lasting friendships outside of their club, district, or country
  • Contribute to world understanding and peace
  • Attract new members to Rotary and retain existing members

A way to do these things: https://www.rotary.org/en/our-programs/more-fellowships

The final month of every Rotary year is Rotary Fellowship month and it is a fitting finale because "fellowship" is such an important part of Rotary.

July Designation
Jul. 01, 2026

July

July is the first month of the Rotary year and is when the annual theme kicks in. It is also the month when new leadership takes over at Clubs, Districts and at Rotary International. July's is “Transition Month”. New Leadership Month. However, the Rotary theme for the month of July is Maternal and Child Health. That is the focus this month.

What Is your Rotary Club doing to focus on Maternal and Child Health in July 2024?
Every day mothers risk their lives giving birth and millions of children die each year from treatable, preventable causes. At least 7 million children under the age of five die each year due to malnutrition, poor health care, and inadequate sanitation. To help reduce this rate, we provide immunizations and antibiotics to babies, improve access to essential medical services, and support trained healthcare providers for mothers and their children. Your Rotary projects ensure sustainability by empowering the local community to take ownership of healthcare training programs. And there is more.....

Watch how Rotary helps bring health care to mothers and newborns in rural Haiti

Through grants from The Rotary Foundation, Rotarians improve access to essential medical services for mothers and their children. These efforts are aimed at reducing the number of children under age five who die each year because of malnutrition, inadequate health care, and poor sanitation – a figure that is currently estimated at 7 million.

According to another estimate, more than 80 percent of maternal deaths can be prevented with access to reproductive health services and trained health care workers. Rotarians provide education, immunizations, birthing kits, and mobile health clinics to support these causes. Women are taught how to prevent mother-to-infant HIV transmission, how to breast-feed, and how to protect themselves and their children from disease.

Encourage your friends , relatives, neighbors, and business associates to:

  • Join Rotary and help save mothers and children.

  • Give now to support maternal and child health.
