A Happy September 2022 to you! This month is Basic Education and Literacy month for Rotary.
Maybe I can learn how to read a calendar : )

Our club has many activities for all members to participate and enjoy this month.

Our in-person meetings will be September 7th, 14th and 28th. On the 7th our speaker will be Husam Hishmeh – District Membership Chair. The 14th will be our own MC McBride discussing the Rotary Foundation with Past District President Wade Nomura. Our District Governor, Scott Phillips, will be speaking at our 28th meeting. His theme for the district this year is “Let’s Get Loud” and pink is the color for his year, so please wear your loudest pink outfit to the meeting! The evening of the 28th we will have our annual boat ride/dinner for the District Governor.

We will be hosting the Interact Picnic, Sunday, September 18th and Thousand Oaks Community Park (by TO High School). We will have high school students from the local eight high schools along with other high schools from the Simi Valley and Ventura area. Speakers will talk about their Rotary experience and other youth service programs like RYLA, YES and Youth Exchange.

Starting off our socials we will have a Trivia Night with Westlake Sunrise on Thursday the 15th at Los Robles Greens. $25 charge for the entertainment, venue, and appetizers. There will be an email sent for signups.

On Friday the 30th we are hosting a fundraiser at the Canyon Club to benefit the Morrison Park Playground. The band is a Bruno Mars cover band which means lots of dancing. You can purchase tickets at rcwv.org. We have 200 tickets given to us by the club and all the proceeds go to the park project. Please invite your friends.

Save the date. October 1st is a music night at MC McBride’s house. Cover charge is $20, and proceeds go to the Boys and Girls shopping event in December. More to follow.

Congratulations to Christina Ortega for being Rotarian of the Month for August. Along with her amazing performance at Charity Karaoke, she has been a great help setting up our clubs’ social events for the year. Christina is a “Yes Can Do” member!

We are shifting into a higher gear for Holliday’s in the Village. Only three more months, can’t wait! One need is larger sponsorships for the event. If you have contacts for us to ask, please let Erin or myself know. And please keep up to date with the emails Erin sends out.

Thank you for being part of our club and hope to see you many times this month, Mike
