Our speaker today was Leanne Tapper, PHR, Executive Director Conejo Free Clinic.

Leanne told us that the Conejo Free Clinic was founded in 1976 and for over forty-five years has been providing legal and medical services to those in the community who may, for a variety of reasons, have no access to care. These are the people who fall through the cracks — they cannot qualify for public services and yet cannot afford them on their own. These are the uninsured, the underinsured and the homeless. These are your neighbors, they are young and old coming from many backgrounds. The Clinic provides such services as medical clinics, immunization programs, anonymous HIV counseling and testing, dental services and legal help with divorce, bankruptcy, child custody and other legal issues.

In 1998, the Conejo Free Clinic moved to its current location in the Community Conscience “Under One Roof” building. The building houses a variety of social service agencies that are committed to making services available to needy residents in the Conejo Valley.

The Conejo Valley is located in the southeastern corner of Ventura County, bordering with Los Angeles County. The area served by the Conejo Free Clinic includes Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park, Camarillo, Simi Valley, Moorpark and Fillmore, with some clients coming from as far as Agoura and Ventura.  More info
