Gift of Life was founded by Rotary District 7250 with the collaboration of Rotary Districts and clubs around the world.

There are 66 Gift of Life programs throughout the world and we have treated children from 67 countries on 6 continents.

The 66 GOL Programs and their respective members have treated and saved the lives of more than 12,000 children from 67 countries on 6 continents.

Through generous funding provided by corporations, businessess, civic organizations, Foundations and individuals, GOLI has coordinated and provided surgical missions for hundreds of surgeons, nurses, and medical personnel in over 20 different countries. The "Our Hearts Are In...." program ensures that regional facilities are staffed with surgeons specializing in pediatric cardiac surgeries, thus enabling many children afflicted with congenital heart defects (CHDs) to remain in their relative areas or countries for treatment.

Service Above Self

Rotary International

These are the three words that sum up the world of Rotary. Rotarians are dedicated to the idea that they can make a difference in the lives of others and when you put the concept of helping others ahead of helping yourself, everything becomes possible.

Over the years Rotary has taken on great challenges, the most formidable of which has been its campaign to eradicate polio worldwide. After fighting this terrible disease for decades, Rotary is now on the threshold of making this dream a reality.

For more than 30 years, Rotary Clubs and Districts have supported the Gift of Life International program. During this time, the equivalent of $500 million has been raised or provided in services that were performed at a significantly reduced rate by hospitals and health care professionals. The result of this effort on the part of Rotarians around the world is that the lives of more than 10,000 children have been saved through Gift of Life.

Rotary Clubs and Districts continue to support Gift of Life as a project. Each year we add new clubs and Districts to the network of Gift of Life. In addition to the 70 current programs, there are an additional 10 Rotary Clubs or Districts considering adding Gift of Life as a new project.
