Program  Our own Dwight Brown who is with Home Helpers Homecare Dwight explains that home help provides nurses; Hospice is prescribed by a doctor at the end of life, and Home Care is like having an experienced family member helping you. It is for when a person would like to stay in their home. Cindy Dutra, a nurse, assesses a home as to safety, both for the patient and the caregiver. The cost of Home Helpers Homecare depends on how much time the patient needs a person to be with them and can be more costly than a residential home. It may average +$5,000/month. Long Term care will pay for this and about 15-20% have this. Our second speaker is Kelila Heller with Assisted Living Connections which provides placement and counselling services for senior care and living options, like a real estate agent but for people with special needs. Kelila explains the cost would be less in an assisted living facility than a residential home if you need more than 4 hours a day help. An example of continued care is University Village where you can progress to assisted living if necessary. A Residential Care facility is 24/7 care and good for memory loss patients. Bryan Hynes She stopped me on her way out and I have to say of all the hellos, thank yous and hugs yesterday this was by far the BEST! Really though, what a great ending to a very trying week for all of us. It was amazing to see all of you at the park this weekend. Thank you for all the support - it does make a huge difference!
