 President Dapper Spar welcomed his fellow Rotarians to the September 16, 2015 meeting of the Rotary Club of Westlake Village.
Brad Ormsby led the flag salute and the song.

Announcements:
Harvey Magidow informed us of the need to fill the last two Saturdays for Meals On Wheels.
Kerry Kallman said the Street Festival is scheduled for April 10, 2016 and October 7, 2015 is the first meeting of the planing committee at the NRCC.
Ed Pope passed around the Paul Harris Fellowship sign up sheet.
Lee Ginsburg reminded that Fun & Games provides some of the Paul Harris Fellowship matching money.
K-9 for Warriors
Dapper Spar informed everyone of the meeting tonight (5:30) at Stonehaus for those interested in joining Ray Taylor, Blaine Ostrander and him.
DreamCatcher Park:
DreamCatcher Park ceremony is on Thursday, September 17th at noon at Old Meadows Park, 1600 Marview Dr., T.O. The group 4 clubs, along with the Conejo Rec and Park Department of the city of T.O. will formally open the park. Our club will donate an additional $500 to the Park and $125 to the ARC Choir.
Thousand Oaks Street Fair:
October 18th is the Thousand Oaks Street Fair. We will have a group 4 Rotary booths at the Fair, which need to be staffed all day by Rotarians. All 5 clubs will be there so we really only need 1 or 2 people per two hour shift. Let Dapper know of your availability. Thank you.
HALLOWEEN PARTY: The Halloween Party will be October 28 at Steve Kerrigan's home. There will be pumpkin carving (no props Bill Nordoff) and a costume contest if you care to dress up (optional).

Our scheduled speaker, Mark Furia, was unable to come, so Brad Ormsby conducted the friendly humiliation we call Craft Talks.
Lesley Testan was introduced first and came well prepared. Lesley's sponsors are Linda and Mel Le Vine. Lesley, born in London England, is a retired businesswoman, having operated a highly successful Priority Messenger Service in Philadelphia. Lesley and her husband moved to California in 1990. Lesley and her husband, an attorney, have two sons, also attorneys. Lesley is currently training with the Museum of Tolerance as a Docent and guest speaker, as her parents were Holocaust survivors. Lesley plays the piano (12 years), violin and cello. We sincerely hope Lesley can get the group to start singing on key. Her hobbies include helping people "ghost write" their autobiographies.
Karl Knickmeyer was next up. Karl's sponsor is Armando Lozano. Karl is a trust and estate lawyer in Westlake Village. Karl and his wife Lisa recently moved to Westlake Village from Pacific Palisades. Karl was born in Washington, DC and grew up in Alexandria Virginia. After finishing three years in the U.S. Army as a 1st Lt., Karl came to California and finished college and law school with the help of the GI Bill. Karl has two boys, one living in Corona del Mar and the other in Tel Aviv.
Lee Hess then had his turn. Lee's sponsor is Jeanne Archer. Harvey Magidow is his mentor. Lee is originally from Glendale, CA. Lee, a family law attorney, was married to his high school sweetheart for 42 years. They had 3 sons (one of , a daughter and grandchildren. Sadly, Lee's wife passed last September. But there is happiness in Lee's life, which he shared with us. We must it keep secret, at least for a little while. Lee enjoys 70's music but may need to endure music of the 80's. Lee was the 2009 US Monopoly Champion (who knew?). Lee has also been a Boy Scout Scoutmaster for 26 years and finds it one of the most rewarding parts of his life. He is currently Scoutmaster of Troop 718.
Dapper Spar thanked all of the Craft Talkers and adjourned the meeting, saying he was looking forward to the USC - Stanford game. Others were looking forward to UCLA - BYU.
