President Ray Taylor welcomed his fellow Rotarians to the April 15, 2015 meeting of the Rotary Club of Westlake Village.

Brad Ormsby welcomed the club’s one guest, Barbara Lestak.  Barbara is a retired attorney who learned about the Club at the Rotary Information Booth at last weekend’s Street festival.  Way to go guys!

 

Charles Bloomquist passed around the Meals on Wheels sign-up sheet. Pick up of the meals is at Los Robles Hospital (entrance is near the back loading dock) at 11:00AM, SHARP!  The whole project takes no more than 1.5 hours and means the world to the recipients of these hot, nutritious meals.

By all accounts this year’s Street Festival was a huge success.  President Ray Taylor asked members of the Street Festival organizing Committee to stand up and be recognized.  While these individuals helped to organize this year’s event, a whole host of Rotarians played a key role whether in striping the street on Friday, to setting up at 6 am on Sunday, a big thank you to all that were involved. A Street Festival wrap-up meeting is being planned.  It is a sure bet it won’t be at 11 am before a regular meeting and may involve an adult beverage or two.   

 

 

 

 

Just when you thought things would slow down after the Street Festival, our members have come up with four wonderful social opportunities.

 

Led by the face painting queen herself, local Interact members will be hosting an event to raise funds for K9’s for Warriors at 2 pm at Newberry Park High School.  Tickets are $15.  Contact Barbara Chilton for more information. 

 

Blaine Ostranger has put together another great excuse to enjoy some good wine (who needs an excuse) while raising money for the Club’s favorite cause, K9’s for Warriors.  Join your fellow Rotarian for a night of wine, food, and fun.  Tickets costs $30.  Please contact Blaine for more information. 

 

You have six days to recover from Bellini's and attend “Cars & Cabernet” at Prinicpe Vineyards, located at 1873 W. Potrero Road.  Enjoy wine from the private Principe vineyard while enjoying the family’s collection of spectacular vehicles.  This event is free, so you have no excuse.  RSVP to Blaine Ostranger.

 

It appears that Barbara was feeling outdone by Blaine, so she is organizing a swing dance soiree to kick off Oakheart season while raising money for the Wounded Warrior project.  Barbara promises a night of swing dancing, food, cocktails, and silent auction.  The fun begins at 6 pm at the Los Robles Golf Course Garden Terrace.  Email Barbara at innmediate@aol.com your RSVP. 

 

Gib provided part two of his southern states vacation.  I wish I could tell you what Gib said, but I nodded off.  Gib was levied with a $10 fine.
