What a way to start our meeting! DeAnn Justessen led the flag salute, and Board Member Lee Ginsburg surprised us with the song choice of "God Bless America". Our invocation was delivered by visiting Rotarian Ken Warner (Thousand Oaks) who enlightened us about Hineni, a biblical quote from Abraham, and compared it to Rotarians who indicate their readiness to serve.
Barbara Chilton updated the Street Fest TTT board and the fundraising thermometer. We're on our way toward our goal!

PP Edwin Velarde announced the website is online for runner registrations for the 5k/10k on April 6. If you're not up for running yourself, consider sponsoring someone to run. Group 4 Community work day is April 5, Saturday. All the projects are "painting" projects: NPHS cafeteria, fencing, quad stage. Shifts begin at 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. (Don't wear yourself out though, because our Street Fest is on Sunday April 6) Sign-ups will be going around.

Kris Carraway brought a team of Debbic Licht, Michael, Brittany, and Judy. Together they described "Sidewalk CPR" and provided a mini-refresher course, complete with CPR dolls. Members were eager to learn this life-saving technique. Thank you!
NRCC moved us to the big room. Meeting began with Ken Snow on Flag Salute, PP Bill Notthoff as song leader, and PP Charles Bloomquist delivering the invocation. Nida Brown, Irene Agnew, and PP Edwin Velarde each brought guests. Gary Trow and Mary Guy joined us as well.
PE Ray Taylor shared some of his training from mid-terms, and invited each member to meet with him individually over the next few weeks. Ray also issued a group invitation to all to meet with him at City Hall on Friday, February 14, for a SWOT analysis. RSVP to Ray so he can plan seating and food.
Foundation Gala will be held March 15 at North Ranch Country Club. All are invited to attend. (See story for details.)

ByLaws committee is working to review the new changes from Rotary International, and will be presending the revisions this spring.
Mary Olson introduced our program: CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates). The mission of CASA Ventura is to be a powerful voice for abused, neglected and abandoned court dependent children, through its trained, compassionate volunteers. Both men and women are needed as volunteers. Part of the program included a demonstration where a doll was passed around the room. It provided a poignant example of how a child's life is shuffled around when the child is in the foster system. Youth Services Chairperson, Barbara Chilton, will be attending the Interact/Rotaract Breakfast meeting this Monday, along with her students at Westlake High School and Oaks Christian School.
Group 4 Community Work Day: Saturday April 5. We will be joining with the Group 4 Rotary clubs to paint some projects at Newbury Park High School, including: chain link fences, stage area in the quad, and cafeteria interior. Tentatively arranged for 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. start times. More details to follow.
Harvey Magidow announced the next plant tour will be Wednesday April 2nd in Chatsworth. (we are DARK at NRCC on April 2; make-ups required if you miss the plant tour). Location and directions to follow from Harvey.

Westlake Village Sunrise Rotary held a night of Awarding Paul Harris Fellows. They handed out over 75 PHF in one evening. What a huge event and stunning fundraising for the Rotary Foundation. Congratulations to President John Newhouse and his club.

PP Charles Bloomquist has assembled a magnificent team for this Street Festival Committee. There is always room for more. You're probably asking yourself, "How best can I serve my club?" The team of Barbara Chilton and Brian Hynes presented a number of different opportunities. Among the ways to get your name checked off: Time, Talent, and Treasure. Give your time, show your talent, share your treasure. All are in high demand. Watch for that chart to fill up!
Fundraising Chairperson Jim Campbell distributed Sponsorship Benefits and Commitment forms. Sponsors of all levels are needed to make this a successful event. Is it hard to ask for sponsorship? Jim makes it easy. Just provide him with the contact information at a corporatoin of your recommendation and he will take over. Is it easy for you to ask? then join Jim's team and let's start making the calls.
As this is a Street Festival with street booths: the vendor booth applications became available this week. Vendor chairperson Bill Notthoff, along with his team of Marion Hall Marshall and Bob Marshall, copied, folded, stuffed, labeled, stamped and mailed out over 210 vendor applications. Bill followed that up with an email distribution to over 300 more vendors. Know someone who should have a booth in our street fest? send them to our website (rotarywlv.org). Feeling fit? feeling less-than-fit? then join the 5k/10k run/walk for global clean water. PP Edwin Velarde shared the web information for signups for this great local running/walking event. Watch your facebook for updates and news on the run.
What's that? You're getting hungry thinking about all that running? Jennifer Gears is changing the way we've been eating and drinking at our Street Fest. This year: FOOD TRUCKS! and CRAFT BEERS! 'nuf said.
