Program
Program:  John Godfrey, with African Travel.

John has over 30 years travel experience with various companies.  John loves the wildlife and beauty of Africa.  He has traveled extensively through Africa. He gave us a lot of insight on what to expect when you visit the continent.

African Travel, the company John works for, is all about giving back i.e. “sustainable travel."  The company supports the Treadrock Foundation. The foundation was formed to help educate children and protect the wildlife, especially rhinos.  John shared that every 8 hours, one rhino is killed.

John shared what you can expect on a typical South African Safari.

Arrive in Johannesburg ( a 10 hour flight from Cairo).   Fly down to Cape Town.  Spend 4-5 days in Cape Town, as there a lot to take in i.e. Table Mountain, Cape Peninsula, the penguins at Boulders Beach, whale watching from the beach, and perhaps a visit to the amazing wine country originating from the 1600’s.

While on Safari you rise very early (3:30am) to go out on a drive to see the animals.  Then you come back to camp for a lovely breakfast.  Perhaps a hike or nap.  Then you venture out again mid-afternoon for another game drive to see animals. In the evening the stars are amazing and you can view many constellations.

Victoria Falls – one of the seven natural wonders of the world.  Breathtaking water falls that spread over 1 mile wide.

Botswana – has the highest concentration of elephants in their national parks.

A safari to eastern Africa would involve travel to Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.

If taking an African Safari is on your bucket list,  Michael's Travel, Lee’s Travel Agency, can help you plan your trip.  Kelly Honig returned recently from a safari and had an amazing time.
