What a way to start our meeting! DeAnn Justessen led the flag salute, and Board Member Lee Ginsburg surprised us with the song choice of "God Bless America".  Our invocation was delivered by visiting Rotarian Ken Warner (Thousand Oaks) who enlightened us about Hineni, a biblical quote from Abraham, and compared it to Rotarians who indicate their readiness to serve.

 

Barbara Chilton updated the Street Fest TTT board and the fundraising thermometer.  We're on our way toward our goal!

Group 4 Community work day is April 5, Saturday.  All the projects are "painting" projects: NPHS cafeteria, fencing, quad stage.  Shifts begin at 7 a.m. and 9 a.m.  (Don't wear yourself out though, because our Street Fest is on Sunday April 6)  Sign-ups will be going around.

Today's Program:

Kris Carraway brought a team of Debbic Licht, Michael, Brittany, and Judy.  Together they described "Sidewalk CPR" and provided a mini-refresher course, complete with CPR dolls.  Members were eager to learn this life-saving technique.  Thank you!

Book Drive: So far, our club has donated two boxes and three bags of books to Jon Morse's book drive for Simon Technology Institute. Contact Jon at jmorse@morselawgroup.com to arrange pick-up/drop-off of your books

 

Thanksgiving Baskets:  Our club has opted to help with the Conejo Valley club's Thanksgiving Basket delivery program.  They are in extreme need of financial contributions in order to serve the familes this year.  A donation of $50 will feed one family.  They anticipate serving over 150 families this year.  Please email rotaryjeanne@yahoo.com or kgriffith@FGACPA.com to contribute to this great project.  Kyle will add your donation amount to your November invoice.  They also welcome our assistance in delivering the baskets.  (if you missed the sign-up, the folder will go around again this week for you to sign up.)

 

This Week's Program:  Dr. Chris Kimball of California Lutheran University (and Rotary Club of Thousand Oaks).  Thank you, Mary Olson, for bringing Dr. Kimball to our meeting.  We learned so much about this important neighbor, the events they offer to the public, their enrollment and expansion plans, and their sporting achievements.
