Ken Snow reported that the Holiday Shopping Spree event at Target was a huge success.  Rotarians teamed with twenty local youth to shop for $125 worth of gifts at Target.  Each child was also given two Target gift cards to give out as a holiday gift.  Special thanks to Nadine Larson, Naomi Finkel and DeAnn Justesen for their support on this project.  Check out the Ventura County Star article here. 

 

Kyle “Red Badge” Griffin signed up for delivery on December 13.  Ken Snow will be delivering on December 20. 

 

Special thanks to Jim Campbell for arranging and Dapper Spar for hosting the club’s annual holiday party.  It was reported that the later you stayed the more expensive the wine became.

Newly crowned champion Mary Olsen reported on her achievement of winning the New West Symphony’s ‘Dancing with the Stars” competition at the Poinsetta Ball.  President Taylor read a prepared statement from one of Mary’s fellow competitors, Westlake Village Councilmember Brad Halpern.  I won’t go so far as to say Brad thought Mary was up to something, I will simply leave it at “The Truth is in the Tango.”

Ken Snow is proud of his son’s mock trial team from Trinity Pacific School for winning the Mock Trial National Championship.

President Ray Taylor introduced the day’s program, Dave Pederson, General Manager of the Las Virgenes Municipal Water District.  Dave presented information on the statewide drought.  Mr Pederson stressed the importance of water conservation and discussed a new billing program that bills customers based on a water budget rather than a tiered usage system.  This was anything but a "dry" presentation.
