Rotary This Week  Flag: Lee Ginsburg  Song: Eric Johnson  Invocation: Cristina Auda As I was preparing for this invocation, I turned to FB and Instagram to observe what fellow Rotarians around the world were doing. This is what I saw: someone celebrating a wedding anniversary; someone taking her children to the first day of school; someone riding a bicycle to raise awareness for a cause dear to his heart; someone celebrating a birthday; someone enjoying a wonderful vacation; someone grieving the loss of a loved one; someone taking a child to college; someone giving thanks to God for a happy occasion and someone praying Him for strength to overcome a struggle. As I continued to observe all these events, I had a Rotary moment. We all have different stories. Our days are busy with family life, work, social events, but all of us have a special place in our heart for Rotary. In that special place we find the time, the strength and the will to make a difference in someone’s life. It is not because we have nothing else to do; FB and Instagram prove that is not the case! It is because we are passionate about helping others. Improving a child’s health by providing immunization, promoting education for young women by building water wells and toilettes, allowing a grown man to be mobile for the first time in his life by donating a wheel chair, feeding the homeless, delivering meals to the homebound. So while we go on our vacations, get through a busy school year, recover from a stressful time at the office or worry about a medical condition, we join hands to make a difference. Let’s take the time to appreciate what we have found in Rotary and let’s share that special place in our heart to inspire someone else. Why are you here today? What will your next Rotary moment be? What does Rotary mean to you? Well, as for me, Rotary means love, trust, hope, peace, fellowship, fun. I am here because I am thankful to God and I want to give back. I am here because I know this is where my future Rotary moments will begin. Thank you God for uniting us in Rotary and thank you Rotary for uniting us in purpose. We are many, yet we are one Rotary. We are one, yet we are many beautiful Rotary moments. .gif) Guests: Brad Ormsby  Gary Dickey brought his beautiful Wife Rose Tubor brought a long-time friend who is newly retired and looking to help. Lois Curran-Klein from the T.O. club was present.  Announcements: Jean-Luc Jubin told us that Monday they delivered all the gift cards to the Title 1 Elementary school teachers. They were all very appreciative. Jean-Luc thanked Jan Zegel, Mike Dutra, Lynda & Mel Levine and Brad. The project is now complete for the year and they are hoping to grow it next year. E E Rin Culbertson than spoke on socials. She passed out an idea folder where members could give their ideas about what kind of socials they wanted. She announced the “Troika” plan where new members pick business cards of old (I meant “seasoned”) members to go get coffee, beer, lunch and get to know them. Erin also passed around the sign-up sheet for our next social, Tarantula Hill at 5:00 p.m. on September 18 th. Be there or be square!! Audrey Brown had us sing happy birthday to Rose Tubor and Eric Johnson.  Rotary Moment: None  Fines: None  Fun & Games: Jason Giambi gave out happy dollars. Bill Hang was the big $100 winner. Board Meetings are held at 7:30 am in the Community Room at Westlake Village City Hall on the second Tuesday of each month. All Rotary members are welcome to attend. Upcoming Club Service Meeting Dates Club Service meetings are held on the third Tuesday of every month at 12:00 noon at Westlake Village City Hall. |
